How to Practise

Each exercise consists of two parts. The first part focuses on ear training, while in the second part, you actively reproduce what you have recognized through listening by singing. If you can sing a musical phenomenon, you have truly internalized and understood it.

You might be thinking: “But I can't sing!” – That doesn’t matter. The goal is not to sing beautifully but to reproduce the tones as accurately as possible in order to check yourself. Singing helps you determine whether you can mentally imagine a musical concept correctly. Aesthetic aspects like “beautiful” or “not so beautiful” are completely irrelevant in this context.

The exercises build on one another. You should achieve at least a 90% success rate in each exercise before moving on to the next one. This means: If you make more than one mistake, you should repeat the exercise.

The melody and chord sections are independent parts that you can practice separately—entirely at your own pace.
